A man was tasered and bitten by a police dog in a dramatic arrest in Melbourne's south-east on Friday morning.

The heavily armed Special Operations Group arrested the 26-year-old man on Wellington Road in Mulgrave about 10.15am.

Police said the man was being sought after a police officer was struck and injured by an allegedly stolen car last week.

A taser and police dog were used in Friday's arrest.

An Ambulance Victoria spokesman said a man had a shoulder injury and was taken to hospital in a stable condition.
