Former Hawthorn legend and Melbourne veteran Jordan Lewis has called time on his illustrious career. Rumours had been swirling surrounding the 33-year-old's future this season, with Lewis confirming them on Tuesday morning, informing his teammates of his decision to retire. “I thought I’d address the group just briefly to one, show my appreciation, and two, just to put a full stop and let everyone know that I am retiring at the end of the year,” Lewis said in his farewell speech. “The journey has been a good one – it’s been a long one.
A pedestrian has been killed in a suspected hit-run crash in Melbourne's southeast.
Police say the woman was crossing the road at Wellington Street near Scenic Boulevard in Clayton when she was hit by a dark coloured wagon travelling west just before 10pm last night.
The driver failed to stop.
Police located the car believed to be involved, dumped at a property on North Road, Clayton at about 11pm.
Investigators believe the car was travelling at a high speed prior to the crash and are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or with dashcam footage to come forward.
A crime scene was established at Wellington Road and all westbound lanes remain closed between Blackburn Road and the Princes Highway.

Chinese state TV is reporting that an earthquake in the country's southwest has killed one person and injured another 29. The government's earthquake monitoring center says the 5.4-magnitude quake struck the city of Neijiang in Sichuan province early Sunday. The causalities were reported by China Central Television, which gave no other details of the death or injuries. Earthquakes occur frequently in the area, which lies in the eastern slope of the Tibetan plateau.
