According to witnesses, their car then flipped multiple times before coming to rest in a ditch.

A young man has died in a head-on crash with a truck in Brisbane's north overnight.

Police believe the 19-year-old P-plater was behind the wheel of a Toyota Celica sedan travelling on Gympie Road when he ran a red light at the intersection of Webster Road in Aspley just after midnight.

The Kelvin Grove man's car then collided head-on with a truck.

The 55-year-old truck driver suffered non-life threatening injuries and is assisting police with their investigation.
