500 protests, hundreds injured in Kashmir lockdown: govt source At least 500 incidents of protest have broken out in Indian Kashmir since New Delhi stripped the region of its autonomy and imposed a military clampdown more than three weeks ago, a senior government source told AFP Wednesday.

A Cairns bride-to-be has spoken of the devastating moment she received the shock news her fiancé was fighting for life after a Bali scooter crash.

A week out from their dream wedding, Tam Matthews, 27, was in the middle of her final dress fitting when her phone rang.

"I got the call while they were just doing some minor alterations and I just took the dress off, I got in the car and drove," Ms Matthews said.

"I put (the dress) in the bag, I put it in the car and I've not seen it since."

Ms Matthews then made the dash from far-north Queensland to be by the side of her husband-to-be Ashley Hickman, who was in Bali for a buck's trip when the crash unfolded.

"It really puts things into perspective, I was so stressed about the little details, the eyelashes, the nails the table settings and now I don't care," she said.

Friend Luke Cowdray says the group had just finished breakfast and were driving their hired scooters through tourist hotspot Seminyak when the father-of-one careered off the road and slammed into a wall.

"I was in front of him and all I heard was a massive smash and turned around and that's when I came up to him," Mr Cowdray said.

Aussie tourist fights for life in a coma after scooter crash in Bali with a $30,000 medical bill - just days before he was set to marry the love of his life

Aussie tourist fights for life in a coma after scooter crash in Bali with a $30,000 medical bill - just days before he was set to marry the love of his life An Australian tourist is fighting for his life in Bali just days before he was supposed to marry the love of his life. He has had surgery but remains in a coma with his mother by his side.

Despite wearing a helmet, 32-year-old Mr Hickman needed lifesaving surgery for a fractured skull and bleeding on the brain.

But before medical staff at Kuta's BIMC Hospital agreed to perform the procedure, friends were forced to frantically hand over tens of thousands of dollars.

"There's no words to describe how hopeless we were at that time, we knew he needed this surgery ... it wasn't even by bank transfer it had to be instant cash or credit card," Mr Cowdray said.

Unlike plenty of other holidaymakers, Mr Hickman purchased travel insurance before his trip, but his policy won't cover the cost of his treatment because he doesn't have the required Australian motorbike licence and international drivers licence.

Family and friends are now trying to raise more than $120,000 for the Cairn's tradie's medical bills and to airlift him to Perth - where he's originally from - tomorrow.

Perth groom-to-be fighting for life in Bali hospital after scooter crash

Perth groom-to-be fighting for life in Bali hospital after scooter crash Perth man Ashley Hickman was due to marry his fiance this weekend, but the 32-year-old is fighting for life in a Balinese hospital instead. Mr Hickman travelled to the Indonesian island for a bucks weekend away with friends but the celebrations turned tragic after he crushed his skull in a serious moped accident. He had travel insurance and was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, but the groom-to-be did not hold an international drivers' license for the moped.

"Just devastated, I just want my son to come home so he can get the best possible treatment that he can get, and I just want him to wake up," Mr Hickman's mother, Sharon David, who's also keeping a bedside vigil, said.

"My son was supposed to be getting married this weekend, it's just been like a nightmare."

Mr Hickman is due to be flown to Perth the day before his wedding was supposed to take place, but has now been put on hold.

He's showing some positive signs like hand holding and trying to open his eyes.

It's giving hope to Ms Matthews who's determined to eventually walk down the aisle and marry her love of eight years.

Speaking of her wedding dress which remains sitting in its bag, she said: "I'll wear it, I'll wear it again".
