A former employee of a business owner who might be Australia's rudest repairman said he had been to jobs where customers were "in tears" after an encounter with his boss.

Byron Cockburn runs Same Day Appliance Repairs in Brisbane.

A number of customers have claimed to A Current Affair that they copped a mouthful from Mr Cockburn when they rang him to query his bills or the work he had done.

But according to the former employee, who did not wish to be named, Mr Cockburn's dodgy dealings go deeper.

"I'd been to some jobs where people were crying, and I just felt sad working there," he said.

One customer, Keriana, was driven to record her phone call with Mr Cockburn after she called him up to complain about a bill.

She had wanted her oven fixed, and claimed Mr Cockburn's online ad said he was an authorised Fisher and Paykel repairer.

Keriana presumed the job could be done on the same day, due to the business name, so she paid the $264 charge only for the repairman to tell her he would have to order parts.

She said when she called Mr Cockburn, she was told it would cost another $464.

"When I said to him I'd already paid, I thought I'd already paid the labour charge, he started to get aggressive towards me and wouldn't let me speak," she said.

Keriana also said when she checked with Fisher and Paykel, she was told the hinges her oven door needed would only cost $50 all up, and that Mr Cockburn was not one of their repairers.

He was also recorded threatening to call the police if Keriana rang him again.

Customer Stacey reported a similar experience after she complained about the bill to fix her dishwasher.

"He hopes my house burns down, that the owner kicks me out of the property, and it just kept going, called me every name under the sun," she said.

"I was told that I am a stupid woman and that I need to shut my mouth because I don't know what I'm talking about."

Kevin also had a dishwasher problem, and called Mr Cockburn to complain after he twice waited for a booked repairman who did not show.

"I think it's inappropriate to come around to my private residence," he said.
