Panagakos and Ivona dated for two years when she was aged 21. They'd known each other since they were 14 and went to school together.

Following the shooting, Panagakos returned to the home early on Monday morning, where he was arrested by police.

He is tonight still in custody but isn't telling detectives where the gun is or who was with him when Ivona was shot.

No charges have been laid at this stage, but police are desperate to speak with the other friends who were at the home at the time.

Police are able to hold Panagakos in custody for now, after a return to prison warrant was issued for him yesterday for other matters.

Detectives this afternoon also made a fresh appeal for information to locate the owner of a blanket, seen around Panagakos when he was arrested.

They're hopeful the handgun is at the same address.

In the meantime, Ivona's family has set up a fundraising page to help raise money to pay for her funeral.

"It's already gotten up to $16,000... I'm really thankful for everyone who's shown support," Ms Ivanovic told 9News.
