Mr Hall said the shark was just over a metre in length, and while he is unsure of the species, it was bronze in colour.

"This sort of shark had a bigger mouth," he said.

Mr Hall had planned to give the predator to a friend, who makes jewellery from the skeletons.

"It was pretty annoying," he said.

At first, Mr Hall didn't think the bite was too serious and jumped into the salt water to wash the wound.
