A man was reportedly knocked unconscious during a brawl that erupted in a Gold Coast nightclub overnight. Up to 15 people were involved in the fight , which took place at the LOVE Nightlife club in Broadbeach.

A 27-year-old man has been charged after he allegedly punched another man who hit his head on concrete and was knocked out. 

The injured man, 29, was rushed to hospital in a serious condition following the alleged assault in the Surfers Paradise nightclub district during the small hours of Tuesday morning.

It is understood the injured man, from Tugun, had been sitting on a bench on Orchid Avenue, eating food with friends just after 1am.

The accused attacker and another man allegedly took some of the group's food and a verbal confrontation ensued.

A 27-year-old allegedly threw a punch, causing a man to smash his head on the pavement, knocking him unconscious.

A police spokeswoman said the two men were not known to each other.

The 27-year-old was set to appear at Southport Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

The owner of a troubled aged care centre, which suddenly closed three months ago amid a pay dispute, says he has lost his licence to operate a high-care facility, and the centre will not reopen. The abrupt closure of Earle Haven nursing home in Nerang in July left 68 elderly residents homeless, after they were forced to move to other residential facilities and hospitals.It happened because of a pay dispute between the nursing home owner, People Care, and its operator HelpStreet.People Care director Arthur Miller said the Federal Government had revoked his accreditation.
