Labor MP Ed Husic has lashed out at the Morrison Government, telling Sky News that the prime minister should have run “a million miles” from any involvement with the Mueller investigation.

“The Coalition government was seriously contemplating aiding and abetting Donald Trump in undermining a legal investigation into election interference,” the Member for Chifley said.

“[Scott Morrison] should have walked a million miles from that.”

The backbencher then pointed out to Sky News host Janine Perrett how the US President - and ally - contemplated imposing tariffs on Australia.

“A US president should not even have an inkling of a thought to put tariffs on our products when we have stood side by side with them for many years,” he said.

“We need to understand one thing about Donald Trump - this bloke is not a friend of Australia. This bloke is a friend to himself.”
