The Sunshine Coast woman pleaded guilty in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Friday to stealing charges and the possession of a restricted drug which she had claimed was for a 'sore tooth'.

The court heard that she had previously served jail time for taking part in a burglary where she stole possessions worth $1000.

She was also charged with stealing clothes from Target earlier this year, The Sunshine Coast Daily reported.

Defence lawyer Sam O'Connor gave details of Day Braddie's battle with drug addiction.

Magistrate Haydn Stjernqvist said Day Braddie's criminal history appeared to be linked to her drug use and told her she had not tried hard enough to stay clean.

'You've been given every conceivable option to not end up in there (jail).'

After serving 22 days of her nine month jail sentence, Day Braddie is to be released on parole.

In addition to the sentence, the young woman was fined $600.
