Founder of Run for Resilience Wayne McMurtie says a driving force behind completing his mammoth fundraising run, is to "speak to other veterans... and help them to discover their purpose and reasons for doing things after service."

"What inspired me for this one really is the fact that, after my own service, there were issues with the whole transition... returning back into civilian life", Mr McMurtie told Sky News host Paul Murray.

Mr McMurtie will be running the route of the 1916 'Men from Snowy River Recruitment March' to raise awareness about the struggle veterans have and continue to have with post-service life.

Beginning on October 27, his objective is to complete a seven day, 350km run from Delegate to Goulburn, in regional New South Wales.

"I get to tell my story of how I've found some purpose through running", Mr McMurtie said.
