How To Actually Wash Germs Off Your Hands

How To Actually Wash Germs Off Your Hands Hand washing is an essential and important part of not getting sick, or making others sick. Our skin is pretty good at keeping germs out, but the bacteria and viruses that cause colds, flu and diarrheal illnesses can ride around on our hands waiting for an opportunity to infect someone. Whenever you touch your hands to someone’s bodily fluids (or just a random surface that someone may have sneezed on), you can pick up those germs. And then when you touch your eyes, mouth, or nose — or eat finger food, which is basically the same as touching your mouth — you can possibly transmit those germs in a way that makes you more likely to get sick.

Michelle Dorendahl has endured what no mother should have to.

Five years ago, her ex-partner murdered their four-and-a-half-year-old daughter Eeva, before killing himself.

In January of 2014, Eeva was visiting her father Greg Hutchings, when he didn't return her. It had been a year since the couple had separated.

Hutchings claimed to be ill. Text messages between them were polite and cordial so Dorendahl was not initially concerned.

My mum looked at me and sighed: “losing your parents is one of the hardest things in life," she said. But, that sadness is superseded by profound sorrow for my father who' s lost his last remaining parent. After three days of delays, Dorendahl told Hutchings she would come to him.

"I drove four hours to pick her up and he had left me a message to say where they would be. And they weren't there," Dorendahl told A Current Affair.

There were no initial signs of Hutchings or Eeva in the tiny beachside community of Pottsville in northern New South Wales. Air, land and sea searches were fruitless.

It was seventeen days until their bodies were found in the sand dunes.

Dorendahl says she was a victim of domestic violence, through emotional and psychological abuse.
