The residents said on Thursday morning they were yet to hear from building management about the latest incident.

The Age has contacted building management for comment.

Firefighters managed to shut off the water to the affected area before handing the scene back to management shortly after 7am.

Firefighters were still assisting with the clean-up, and residents have not been allowed back in.

There were no reports of injuries.

Victoria Police was at the scene assisting.
