The NSW Police Commissioner's son has pleaded guilty to drink driving and driving with a suspended license after stopping short of a random breath test in early September.

Jacob James Fuller, 20, who is the son of the state's most senior police officer Mick Fuller, returned a blood alcohol content reading of 0.031 about 3am on September 8, above the zero restriction of a provisional license. Subsequent checks of his license revealed it was suspended, police said.

Barrister Sam Macedone entered guilty pleas for both charges on behalf of Mr Fuller at Sutherland Court on Thursday.

Outside court, Mr Macedone said he had instructed his client not to make a statement.

"He's entered a plea of guilty that's all you really need to know," Mr Macedone said.

Last year, Commissioner Fuller told 2GB that drink driving was a big issue in the community.

"We have come a long way but the stats are still concerning," he said. "For every 220 people we pull over, someone's intoxicated. The problem is they're playing Russian roulette not with their own lives but with our lives."

Mr Fuller will appear next at the Downing Centre on November 7.
