A Lindfield man who allegedly kidnapped a woman, cable tied her and demanded cash at knifepoint will face court on Saturday.

Police will allege that the woman was in her car leaving Macquarie Shopping Centre at Macquarie Park about 1.30pm on Friday, when Lindfield man Dong Kim got in the back of her car.

It is alleged that he threatened her with a knife, then directed her to drive the 15 minutes to Ermington, and cable tied her hands.

There, he allegedly removed the ties and directed her to withdraw money from a bank.

She entered the bank and told staff of the alleged kidnapping, who alerted police.

As Mr Kim allegedly tried to drive away in the woman's car, members of the Public Order and Riot Squad arrested him.

He was taken to Granville Police Station and was charged with detaining a person with intent to obtain advantage, taking a motor vehicle with person in it armed with a weapon, and armed robbery.

He was refused police bail to appear in Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday.
