A man and woman are charged with murder after Michael Menzel died during an alleged home invasion last week, taking the number of people facing charges to five .

The Scenic Rim is a group of forested mountain ranges of the Great Dividing Range, located south of Brisbane agglomeration, straddling the border between south-eastern Queensland and north-eastern New South Wales, Australia.

A man and woman have been charged with the murder of a Scenic Rim man, who was shot in the leg during a home invasion last Monday.

A Ningi man, 32, was arrested at Caboolture late yesterday afternoon, and a Hillcrest woman, 23, was arrested late yesterday and taken into custody at the Brisbane watch house.

They have been charged with murder and are expected to face the Brisbane Magistrates Court today.

They now join three other men charged with killing 48-year-old Michael Menzel.

Mr Menzel died after being shot in the leg about 7:00am last Monday at a home in Gleneagle, north of Beaudesert.

A 13-year-old girl was in the house at the time of the incident.

The girl witnessed paramedics trying to save Mr Menzel's life after he lost a significant amount of blood.

A man, 40, was also hit on the head with a hammer during the break-in.

He was treated for minor injuries.

Police believe the home invasion was not a random attack.
