Adelaide cyber sleuths win the National Missing Persons Hackathon with almost 100 new leads
A group of cyber sleuths from Adelaide takes out the national missing persons "hackathon", finding nearly 100 new pieces of information for police to investigate. The team from Saab Australia placed first out of 96 teams which took part in the National Missing Persons Hackathon last week. The event was the first of its kind to be held in Australia and saw more than 350 "ethical hackers" gather at 10 locations around the country to generate leads for 12 of Australia's missing-person cold cases. Similar events have been held in the United States and Canada and have led to missing-persons' cases being solved.

A Belgian backpacker who vanished in Sydney has been found - as his family pray it will help in the search for compatriot Theo Hayez.
Dorian Leonard was staying at Sydney Central Backpackers in Potts Point when he disappeared on Saturday.
The 22-year-old was reported missing at Kings Cross Police Station and his family issued an urgent appeal to help find him. NSW Police confirmed Mr Leonard was found 'safe and well' at a hostel in Woolloomooloo about 1.55pm on Wednesday.
The backpacker's family thanked those who helped find Mr Leonard in the Facebook group 'Looking for Theo Hayez', which was set up to find the teenager who has been missing for five months.

The family also extended their thanks to the 'Theo team' who assisted amid the search for Mr Leonard.
Mr Leonard's family said they would 'pray that we find Theo soon'.
'Dorian was found by the police a few hours ago! He is not injured and seems to be doing relatively well according to a Kings Cross officer,' the family said in a statement.
'Thank you for all your support and help.'
It is unclear how long Mr Leonard has been in Australia, but photos uploaded to his Facebook show he visited Sydney and Fraser Island in 2018.

He was staying at WakeUp! hostel on the night he went missing and was meant to check out on June 3 but never returned.
The last signal from his phone was picked up at the Cape Byron area at 1.42pm on Saturday June 1 from a WhatsApp message.
Extensive land, air and sea searches failed to find a trace of the teenager and NSW police referred Theo's case to the Coroner in September, officially ending the search.
Theo's family, who flew between Belgium and Byron Bay to look for the backpacker, have refused to give up on the search.
