  Darwin council votes to see cats kept on leashes Darwin council in the Northern Territory enforced the new Cat Containment Policy in the developing suburb of Muirhead on Tuesday night.  The policy was introduced by alderman Robin Knox who is hoping to extend the new laws to other suburbs within the council.'I have chosen to state new developments because I do feel it may be confusing for people who already live in other suburbs,' she told NT News. 'Initially I'm asking for it to be applied (in Muirhead), in future we can educate further suburbs.'Similar laws have been proposed by other Australian states.

Serial fraudster Samantha Azzopardi walked through the streets of Bendigo dressed in school uniform with the two children she has been accused of stealing, CCTV footage has shown. 

Police arrested the 31-year-old in the cosmetics section of the Myer department store in Bendigo at 1.30pm on Friday, later charging her with child stealing and stating a false name to police.

Azzopardi posed as an au pair and moved into a Pascoe Vale home with the children and their parents two weeks ago, Nine News reported.

She told the parents she would be taking the girls on a day trip to Geelong, but instead went to Bendigo.

She visited a headspace centre, where a staff member recognised her and rang police. Minutes later, officers swooped on her at the department store.

CCTV footage, obtained by Nine News, shows Azzopardi dressed in school uniform, drinking out of a milk carton and carrying the 10-month-old girl, while the four-year-old girl walked behind.

The other woman is later seen walking away from Azzopardi, this time carrying a baby, before she doubles back. The woman was also with Azzopardi in Myer when police caught up with her, Nine News reported.

  Serial fraudster charged with child stealing A woman has been charged with stealing two children in regional Victoria after allegedly pretending to be an au pair.Convicted criminal Samantha Azzopardi was with a four-year-old girl and a 10-month-old baby when police swooped on her at Bendigo's Pall Mall on Friday.

Azzopardi did not appear in court for a second day on Tuesday. She remains in hospital undergoing medical treatment after initially being admitted for an MRI scan on Monday.

Police allege Azzopardi forged documents so she could be hired as an au pair.

Detectives also charged her with handling stolen goods, after she was allegedly found with a passport and driver’s licence in July that had been stolen from a Brighton East woman last year.

In June it emerged she had posed as an au pair for a Brighton East couple, and in 2017 she had posed as a 13-year-old Sydney foster child and received nearly $20,000 worth of services from the NSW government and charities before she was found out.

In 2013, while in Ireland, she claimed she was a teenage sex-trafficking victim, and later moved to Canada where she claimed to be a 14-year-old and a victim of abduction, sexual assault and torture.
