A Sydney voice coach who counts one of the Wiggles among his pupils is one step closer to facing historic child sex charges in the UK after a magistrate deemed him suitable for extradition.

The Central Local Court heard Robert Bickerstaff, 87, is facing 16 charges, including indecent assault and buggery, over incidents alleged to have occurred in England in the 1960s and early 1970s.

UK prosecutors claim Mr Bickerstaff anally and orally raped a boy on several occasions and had covered himself and the child in baby oil, sliding over the boy's body.

Magistrate Mark Richardson heard some of the alleged acts occurred while the pair were sharing a room more than 50 years ago, and the alleged abuse left the boy feeling "ashamed and preferred to have died rather than anyone know".

It is not suggested Mr Pryce was aware of the allegations at the time of the photo, nor had the extradition proceedings commenced against Mr Bickerstaff, who was arrested at his Kirribilli home in August this year.

Ahmad Moutasallem, acting for Mr Bickerstaff, said British authorities had not sufficiently identified the allegations his client was required to meet upon his extradition.

"He is entitled to know which of the alleged offences he’s being extradited for," Mr Moutasallem said, identifying five charges where incidents were alleged to have occurred a number of times.

Barrister Trent Glover, acting for the UK, said there was enough information to enable Mr Bickerstaff to know why his extradition was sought.

Magistrate Richardson ruled Mr Bickerstaff was eligible for extradition, noting his decision wasn't based on the strength of the case but was rather a "purely administrative process".

He said Mr Bickerstaff, who remains in custody and has withdrawn a proposed bail application, was able to seek a review of his decision within 14 days.

His extradition must ultimately be approved by federal Attorney-General Christian Porter.
