"We would urge any schoolies travelling through bushfire-effected areas to check their route before they leave for any warnings or road closure notifications," they said in a statement.

"They should keep up-to-date with warnings as they travel and check both Queensland and New South Wales channels if they are crossing the border.

"We also ask them to heed any warnings, especially if they are in unfamiliar areas. And as always, remind them not to throw cigarettes from car windows."

CEO of the official Schoolies, Matt Lloyd, said there are no current plans to address the problem and the company won't be making any decisions until later next week.

He says Byron Bay has been flagged as a possible area of concern and 'froggers' are gearing up for an influx of roughly 10,000 people to that area.

Many communities along the coast are either directly impacted by the fire crisis or have the potential to become areas of concern as temperatures rise over the weekend.

NSW is still in a state of emergency and a total fire ban is in place to prevent any further outbreaks.
