Theo Hayez could have been on his way to a beach doof when he mysteriously vanished earlier this year.

Volunteer searchers have shared images unearthed on social media of a party on Tallow Beach in Byron Bay on May 31, the night Theo went missing.

One picture shows a group of young people gathered around a fire, near where Theo's Puma cap was found in bushland five weeks after he vanished.

Other photos reveal that revellers were partying just metres away from where Theo's phone last 'pinged' after he left the Cheeky Monkey's nightclub.

Sheri D'Rosario, who has been instrumental in the search for Theo, told The Australian the sleuthing shared on Facebook by volunteers has been 'amazing'.

'People suggested going through Instagram to look for any photos that were taken in the area that night,' she said.

'Basically its been a whole massive group of people searching through Instagram and other social media to try and find relevant photos.'

She said they now have a list of new people to speak to and continue their investigation.

Michael Dorkhom, Theo's cousin, said: 'This is exactly what we were hoping for. Now that people have all the information it's not just going to be speculation.

Google Timeline logs showed Theo left Cheeky Monkeys at 11pm and walked away from the main street of town, turning from Johnson St down Kingsley St into a dark, quiet, residential area.

From there he headed east and away from his hostel through more residential streets, before arriving at the Milne Track, which is an access track through bushland to Tallow Beach.

Theo followed the Milne Track before making a wayward turn to the north, and battled through thick bushland at midnight before reaching the sand at Tallow.

The backpacker was travelling Australia alongside his cousin Lisa Hayez, who claims 'everything was fine' with Theo before he vanished.

The search for Theo was officially called off in September.
