A Perth driver allegedly mounted a kerb in his vehicle in pursuit of a cyclist who he then hit and refused to help in a moment of road rage, a court has heard.

Nine News has obtained exclusive security camera vision of the moment the cyclist tries to ride away for his life, while being pursued by the speeding car in Perth's northern suburbs.

Doctors told police the teenager would have died if it wasn't for the good Samaritans who helped him at the scene.

He has since received five blood transfusions in hospital to save his life.

Reah, from Girrawheen, has been charged with a string of offences including dangerous driving and failing to stop and offer assistance. He's also accused of refusing a police requested blood test.

Western Australian Deputy Police Commissioner Gary Dreibergs yesterday said: "It's a very serious offence... It's beyond belief that someone would do something like that in a motor vehicle.

"It's beyond belief they would get so close behind someone on a bicycle and knock them off."
