Police have found a body believed to be that of missing British tourist Aslan King in bushland on the Victorian south coast. Police conducted a four-day search for the man, with helicopters, mounted police, State Emergency Services volunteers and employees from Parks Victoria.

A body has been found in the search for British tourist Aslan King, who went missing from a campsite on Victoria's Great Ocean Road.

Mr King, 25, left a camp near Old Coach Road at Princetown about 2am on Saturday. Friends who were with him on Saturday night say Mr King had some kind of seizure and fell, hitting his head before he ran into the bush.

An intense search was launched over the weekend involving the air wing, mounted branch and on-the-ground volunteers.

About 10.15am on Tuesday, searchers located the body of a man in a creek. The creek was about a kilometre from the campsite where Mr King was last seen.

The body is yet to be formally identified, however authorities believe it is Mr King. Investigators will prepare a report for the coroner.

Mr King's friends, who are from England and have travelled to Australia separately over the course of a few months, have been out with search teams for the past few days.

Emergency crews have been scouring clifftops, waterways and "close to impenetrable" scrub in the search for the British tourist. The search area was extended out to a four kilometre radius on Monday.

Mr King's immediate family have also been in contact with police. He has family in Australia who have been speaking to authorities.

A fundraiser has been set up to raise money to support the family.

The campers said they thought he was joking but then he fell off his chair and clambered under a car. When his friends tried to restrain him, he started running into the nearby scrub.

The group told police while the missing man had consumed alcohol, it was not a significant enough amount to account for his strange behaviour.

The group of five friends had only arrived at the campsite, about 200 kilometres south-west of Melbourne, on Friday night.

Mr King, an illustrator from Bristol, relocated to Australia two weeks ago.
