A woman's body has been discovered in a freezer in an apartment at Pymble on Sydney's upper north shore.

The homicide squad is investigating her death after officers were called to the Bobbin Head Road unit block on Wednesday having received a call concerned about her welfare.

Police forced their way into the apartment where The Sydney Morning Herald has been told that officers found the body of a woman aged in her 30s inside a freezer.

An associate of the husband called the police to the home.

The woman is yet to be formally identified. A crime scene has been established at the apartment and a post mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
