Police allege Mr Gliddon rolled the car after smashing into another vehicle on Thompson Road in Bell Park, with his 41-year-old father Michael, flung through the air.
Mr Gliddon left his dad dying on the side of the road and ran away, investigators allege.
Family members of the accused interjected throughout today's brief hearing, threatening "legal action" after widespread media coverage of the case.
Mr Gliddon's lawyer told the Geelong Magistrates' Court he had a possible diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder and had also been in "adult custody" before.
She said he had not yet been formally interviewed by officers, after he was discharged from hospital and brought to a police station.
