An Australian tradesman has walked free from jail after he allegedly punched a security guard in the face in Bali.

Zac Whiting, 18, from Queensland's Sunshine Coast allegedly struck Adni Liu twice outside a Burger King in Kuta over an argument about his friend's phone last week.

On Friday the teenager was released from custody after spending seven days behind bars, shaking the hand of his alleged victim and saying he was 'very sorry'.

Whiting reached a peace agreement with Mr Liu and paid him $2,000 in compensation.

On Tuesday night Whiting's lawyers reached an agreement with Mr Liu over a compensation payment.

The 18-year-old's security consultant John McLeod said there would be a post-detention debrief meeting where Whiting's mental and physical health would be assessed.

Mr Liu told police his medical bills had been paid and said he had forgiven Whiting over the alleged attack.

Whiting was being held on suspicion of assault which carries a maximum sentence of two years and eight months.

Mr Junus Liu told 7News on the weekend he was outside the Burger King when Whiting and his friends approached him.

'They challenged me to a fight. I didn't give any response. I just tried to push them out. I tried to talk to them politely. I ask them to forgive me,' he said.

He said the group returned a short time later and allegedly set upon him.

Whiting reportedly ran off after the alleged attack but his friends remained at the scene and he was later arrested at his hotel.
