A woman found dead in her home in Dandenong is being remembered as a friendly and quiet neighbour as the homicide squad investigate the circumstances around her death.

Police conducting a welfare check at the property on Brady Road found the body of the woman about 2.30pm on Monday.

Detectives from the homicide squad have taken over the investigation.

A Dandenong man, 43, is assisting police with their inquiries but no charges have been laid.
