Victoria Police's bomb response unit officers are at the scene conducting a safety check and no arrests have been made.Police entered a house on Joan Court before 2pm today and found the suspicious item after seizing four stolen cars and a stolen motorbike.Nine News can reveal the device was tonight detonated by bomb squad officers in the backyard of the property.Officers arrived at the Joan Court property to conduct a routine warrant this afternoon.

A man who allegedly assaulted three police officers and a police horse in Sydney's CBD has been charged with a string of offences.

The 38-year-old is accused of assaulting a female senior constable and kicking and slapping a police horse at the intersection of Pitt and Park streets on Wednesday afternoon.

Police said the man allegedly spat at two male constables before he was arrested, and damaged the door of a police van.

He is due to face the Central Local Court on Thursday charged with ten offences, including three counts of assaulting police and one count of committing an act of cruelty upon an animal.
