A 17-year-old boy has died after attempting to jump onto a friend’s Ute and was subsequently tragically run over.

The boys were hanging around underneath the gateway bridge in Brisbane when Jordan Elwood tried to jump onto the vehicle but slipped and was run over suffering what police said were “catastrophic fatal injuries”.

Paramedics worked on Mr Elwood for some time before declaring him dead on the scene.

Mr Elwood’s mother is a registered nurse and said the paramedics should have taken him to hospital.

The driver of the vehicle is not facing any charges, but the police are investigating whether alcohol was a factor.
