A man has been charged after he allegedly stabbed his father at a home south of Perth.

Police were called to a home in Britannia Avenue in Beeliar about 4.15pm on Sunday, reportedly responding to reports of a family altercation.

Nine News Perth reporter Mia Egerton-Warburton said when officers arrived, they found the 65-year-old man with serious injuries, and his 35-year-old son also critically injured.

“The father sustained such bad injuries it was initially thought he might not survive,” she said.

Paramedics took both of the men to Fiona Stanley Hospital on priority, where they were later stabilised.
