The woman has been charged with attempted armed robbery, intentionally and recklessly causing serious injury, conduct endangering life, possessing and using a firearm as a prohibited person.

She faced Bendigo Magistrates Court on Friday afternoon where she was remanded in custody and ordered to return to court in May.

Detectives have also located a 4WD seen in the area prior to the shooting and it will be forensically examined.

The masked gunman said nothing as he shot Mr Kucukbas, Detective Senior Constable Mark Walsh told reporters at the scene.

"There's nothing in the victim's background to suggest why ... there's no ongoing disputes," he said.

Police said the Sunbury shooting was not related to a string of other recent shootings in Melbourne's northern suburbs.
