Melbourne mother stabbed in front of children, dies in driveway
A Melbourne mother died in the driveway of her Seaford home after allegedly being stabbed by her ex-partner in front of three young children. The woman's 44-year-old ex-partner has been charged with one count of murder after police were called to a home on Whitby Way about 4.40pm on Tuesday.A police spokeswoman said the woman, aged in her 40s, was found with stab wounds and died at the scene.© Nine News Police at the scene of the woman's death. A woman has rushed to free her neighbour's cat after she heard it screaming out in pain when it became ensnared in a rusty trap.
Dana Kouris was checking the mail out the front of her home in Sydney's inner-west, on Friday when she heard the cat and rushed over with her husband.
Mrs Kouris endured several cuts and scratches from the terrified cat as the couple worked to get the trap off the cat's leg
'I got the position of holding the cat down, and my husband had the job of working out the mechanics of getting it off,' she told 9 News.
Woman assaulted with belt in Sydney south west
Police are appealing for information after a woman was assaulted near Chester Hill station.Just after 6.15pm on Thursday, a 27-year-old woman left Chester Hill Railway Station and walked east on Waldron Road, before heading north on Priam Street.
'It was a good five minutes, and the latch comes off, and the cat just took off.'
She believed the trap must have been assembled by a disgruntled neighbour but had no idea who it might be.
'It looks like someone's making these in their garden, but I can't pinpoint a crazy neighbour,' she said.
Mrs Kouris said she believed the trap must have been set up nearby and the cat dragged it away before she found it screaming.
Along with innocent pets, she also feared for school children passing through the area.
