Assoc. Professor Stephens said the NT was well equipped to deal if community spread was to occur.

Stricter border measures for the NT will come into effect from midnight tonight, with all interstate arrivals to join overseas visitors in forced hotel quarantine.

Assoc. Professor Stephens praised the early implementation of the NT's border control measures.

"That has really stopped the flow of disease across the certainly the international border, and now the domestic border."

She also said the Northern Territory is adapting well to self-isolation.

"People are really taking this seriously and I think that if we continue to take it seriously, we will come through this not unscathed, but with the least amount of impact."
