A group of Brisbane battlers have won almost $3 million in the weekend's Saturday Gold Lotto draw, after playing for more than 30 years.

The Brisbane locals started their week on a high, some rare good news amid the coronavirus crisis.

The winning syndicate made up of twenty-one Clayfield locals, in Brisbane's inner north, was sold at their local Eagle Junction Newsagency.

Owner Bruce Cannell said he couldn't be happier for his local customers.

"Can you believe the syndicate has been running for 32 years?," Mr Carnell said.

"Nineteen of the twenty-one syndicate members play every single week, one of the original blokes is still in it as well."

Mr Carnell said that the winnings will help to keep many local businesses in the community alive.

"There are certainly a few battlers at the moment during this tough time," Mr Cannell said.

"We've got some small business owners from the local area who are in it. This will be enough to keep them afloat during the hard times."
