© AAP A 19-year-old man is in a critical condition following a stabbing on the NSW south coast overnight. Paramedics were called to a unit block in Phillips Avenue, Wollongong, around 9pm to find the teenager bleeding out in the stairwell with a puncture wound to his chest.

A 27-year-old man accused of stabbing a teenager at a West Wollongong apartment block last week has been refused bail in court today.

Police allegedly found Cruz Austin hiding under a bed in a unit on Myuna Way in Mangerton yesterday.

He was arrested and charged with one count of wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

It's alleged Mr Austin ran away laughing after he stabbed the 19-year-old in the chest at about 9pm on May 4.

The victim was left naked and bleeding in the stairwell of the apartment block before a neighbour rang Triple-0. 

The teenager remains at St George Hospital with serious chest injuries after undergoing emergency surgery last week.

Mr Austin will front Wollongong Court again on July 1.

Two men have been arrested after a man was stabbed to death inside his own home in Sydney's west in the early hours of this morning. A group of men allegedly ambushed the 40-year-old inside his Riverstone house just after midnight, stabbed him and then fled, witnesses have told police.Two women also living at the Langton Street address were left unharmed.Paramedics called to the home just after 12.30am, where they performed emergency treatment on the victim but he died a short time later.Police have established a crime scene, which will be examined by specialist forensic police.
