Shadow Early Childhood Education Minister Amanda Rishworth is calling on the government to “rethink” pulling back on its childcare support scheme.
The government has indicated its free childcare policy will end in June as lockdown restrictions are eased and parents begin to return to work.
Ms Rishworth told Sky News the initial package was insufficient and families and providers were in greater need for the scheme post-pandemic.
“Just to snap back to the old system could equally cause a headache for both providers and for families,” she said.
