(Facebook: Christopher Puglia) A Queensland man accused of murdering his parents is expected to also be charged with attempted arson, the police prosecutor has told Pine Rivers Magistrates court this morning.

Christopher Puglia allegedly killed his parents — Loris and Franco Puglia, both 59 — at their Joyner home, north of Brisbane, on Saturday.

Their bodies were discovered the next day.

Police allege Mr Puglia fled to New South Wales following the alleged double murder.

He was extradited back to Queensland overnight, ahead of this morning's court hearing.

Police prosecutor Jodie Brendan told the court via a phone hook-up that police would lay another charge of attempted arson against Mr Puglia. 

That matter and the three other charges of murder and unlawful use of a motor vehicle have been scheduled to return to court on June 13.

The 31-year-old was not required to appear in court, and was represented by barrister Brendan Bevon.

Mr Bevon told the court Mr Puglia has not indicated whether he intends to plead guilty to murder.
