KARACHIRE (Reuters) - The black boxes of the Airbus A320 which crashed in a residential district of Karachi, Pakistan, causing 97 deaths, have been recovered, announced on Saturday a carrier word from the airline Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).
The aircraft, which was carrying 99 people, came from Lahore, also in Pakistan, and crashed during a second landing attempt for reasons that are still unknown.
"The black box was found late yesterday, we are handing it over to the office responsible for the investigation," said the PIA spokesperson, adding that the flight data recorder and the voice recorder the interior of the cockpit had both been recovered.
Two people who were on board the plane survived the tragedy which left no dead in the very dense area where the Airbus crashed, according to a report confirmed by the Pakistani authorities.
