Police are investigating after two people were found dead at a property in Notting Hill in Melbourne's south-east earlier today.

A woman and a man were found in the house about 11:00am.

The circumstances, including whether the deaths are suspicious, are still being investigated.

Detectives from Monash Crime Investigation Unit are investigating with help from the Homicide Squad.

The street has been cordoned off by police and neighbours said an older couple lived at the house.

Couple Peter and Tess live a few doors away and said the woman's silver car was parked in an unusual spot in the street this morning.

Identity of woman in her 20 s found dead in room rented by group of men has not been established.

Emergency services were called to the EastLink at Donvale where a man who appeared to have been shot, was found dead in white van.

"The lady's car here, the woman [who died]," Peter said.

"Usually it doesn't park here, I've never seen that car parked here, that's the first day this morning," Tess said.

A police officer later moved the car closer to the scene.

Detectives are examining the contents of the boot, which includes clothing.

A coroner's van has also arrived at the home.

Peter said the neighbourhood, near Monash University in Clayton, was a good area.

"It's a really quiet neighbourhood, good neighbourhood, but that's happened, I think it's sad," he said.

Police investigate death of man killed at Footscray train station .
The death of a man who was killed when a train left the platform while he was between two carriages in Melbourne's inner-west is being investigated by police. Police believe the 24-year-old man got off a train at Footscray train station on platform two on Tuesday just before 2pm. Detectives from the transit crime investigation unit are now trying to work out how the man came to be between the two carriages when the train took off.The man, from St Albans, died at the scene.Police are keen to speak to a Good Samaritan who stopped at the scene to try and help the man.
