Members of the public who noticed the man while driving a BMW in Mortdale first called NSW Police about 1pm today.

Highway patrol officers were able to locate the car on Junction Street and spoke with the 36-year-old man.

He took a roadside breath test that returned the high-range result.

After being taken to Hurstville Police Station, he underwent another breath analysis that showed a reading of 0.351, authorities allege.

The man, who is from Penshurst, has since been charged with driving with a high-range consumption of alcohol.

His licence has been suspended and he is due to appear at Sutherland Local Court on July 28 after he was today granted bail.
