"Carolyn passed away after a collision with a vehicle on her morning commute to work in Brisbane on Tuesday morning. The tragic incident occurred in the vicinity of her workplace at the Royal Brisbane Women's Hospital," the statement said.

"A keen traveller, Carolyn had cycled in many places around the world.

"Cycling Queensland's thoughts and condolences are with Carolyn's family, friends and club mates during this difficult time."

The forensic crash unit is investigating.
