All returning travellers flying into New South Wales will be charged $3000 for their 14-day stay in hotel quarantine from midnight on Saturday, regardless of where they live.

Travellers will be charged $3000, while additional adults within the same family will be charged $1000.

Children aged three and over will be charged $500, while children under three will remain free of charge.

On Friday, the prime minister indicated that all states and territories will start charging for their hotel quarantines.

"Some states already have it, other states are moving towards that," Mr Morrison said.

"I will leave that to them to make their announcements at the appropriate time and where possible, we will seek to have some sort of national uniformity across those pricings."
