Mason's claim against Paul and John Hanna is listed as a guarantee in court documents and he has enlisted a Sydney lawyer whose specialty is in financial services disputes.

The 40-year-old former international did not respond to messages from The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age about this story, nor did John Hanna. Paul Hanna declined to comment when contacted.

The Hannas are yet to file a defence in the claim.
