He has since returned a negative result from a COVID-19 test but will remain in self isolation, it is understood.

The adviser posted on his Instagram account he had been told to self-isolate as he was a close contact of a confirmed coronavirus case at the restaurant in Potts Point on July 25 but later deleted the message, reports said.

Two of the new cases visited the Apollo on Wednesday, July 22 while the third case was a worker at the restaurant.

NSW Health has advised anyone who dined at the Apollo on July 23 to July 25 to quarantine for 14 days from their visit.

The health department has identified Potts Point in inner-Sydney as an area of concern, and told anyone who lives in or has visited the area in the past two weeks to monitor for symptoms.

Mr Morrison travelled to Queensland's Sunshine Coast yesterday morning before heading back to Canberra for urgent meetings to discuss Victoria's growing aged care infections.

A spokesman for the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) confirmed the adviser is in self isolation.

"A staff member in the PMO is self-isolating after NSW Health issued a new alert Monday night," he said.

When Australian Defence Force Personnel conducted 3000 compliance checks across Melbourne they found 800 people people had breached health orders.   Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews lashed Melburnians for their 'unacceptable' and 'selfish' behaviour.  'Stay at home means stay at home for all of us, but it certainly it means stay at home for those who  have the virus or those who have been directed to isolate,' he said on Tuesday.
