Four more Woolworths stores have also closed for coronavirus cleaning in Victoria within 24 hours after workers tested positive to coronavirus. 

The Australian chain shut supermarkets in Bundoora, Cranbourne East and Karingal for overnight cleaning on Sunday and closed a store in Newmarket on Monday.   

The employee from the Karingal and Bundoora stores last worked on July 28. 

Another employee last worked at the Cranbourne East store on July 29. 

The final employee last worked at Newmarket on July 30.

Any shoppers who visited those stores on those days have been urged to monitor for coronavirus symptoms for two weeks.    

'As a food retailer, we already have very high standards of cleaning and hygiene in place.

'As an extra precautionary measure the store had an additional deep clean overnight,' Woolworths said in a statement on its website.  

The supermarket said customers could continue to safely shop.

'While the risk of transmission to customers and team members is low, the safety and wellbeing of the local community is our priority.' 

New South Wales has recorded 12 new virus cases in the 24 hours to 8pm on Saturday after conducting almost 22,500 tests. 

Stricter hygiene measures were also introduced on Saturday with gyms required to register a COVID-safe plan and have a dedicated hygiene marshal on-site. 

Victoria declared a State of Disaster on Sunday afternoon after 671 new COVID-19 cases that day - bringing the state's number of active cases to 6,322.
