Trees toppled in Sydney

The NSW State Emergency Service (SES) says it received about 400 calls for help in Sydney overnight after severe storms lashed the coast.

The SES said 1,280 calls for help were made across NSW since Friday night — 840 of those in the past 24 hours.

The worst of the damage was in the Illawarra and South Coast, where there were 36 rescues, six of those overnight, mostly from people driving into flood waters.

A NSW SES spokesperson said it would be keeping a close watch on swollen rivers and the St Georges basin for further flooding risks today.

Big Kash, a former bikie, posted a photo of himself in a hospital bed and assured his fans on social media he was in good health after the shooting in Warwick Farm.

NSW Police confirmed a 32-year-old man was shot in his forearm and elbow on Saturday evening while sitting in a Mercedes Benz.

Authorities urged anyone with information about two vehicles, described as a red sedan and a white sedan, to come forward.

Severe weather warnings have been issued on Sunday for a large stretch of the NSW coast from Moruya to Kempsey, taking in Wollongong, Sydney and Newcastle. The bureau has also issued a hazardous surf warning for the Sydney coast, Illawarra coast, Batemans coast and Eden coast.

NSW Health is warning anyone who visited a pharmacy in north-west Sydney to watch for coronavirus symptoms after a staff member worked while infectious.

The confirmed case worked at PharmaSave Cherrybrook Pharmacy in Appletree Shopping Centre, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm on Thursday, August 6.

Health authorities said the staff member worked before showing coronavirus symptoms and was wearing a mask during their shift.

The pharmacy in Cherrybrook will undergo cleaning and will be closed temporarily as a precaution, NSW Health said.
