Wetjet have launched flight and holiday package sales as Queensland prepares to open its borders with New South Wales early.

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk previously flagged November 1 as the official open date between the two states for the first time since August 8, when NSW was declared a coronavirus hotspot.

But on Tuesday it was rumoured that state lines could reopen two days earlier on Friday ahead of the Sunshine State election.

To celebrate the potential grand reopening, Webjet are offering holiday packages that include five nights' accommodation and flights for as little as $379 per person.

The premier has been heavily criticised for her border closure policy from several state and federal leaders for banning visitors from COVID hot spots until the area records 28 days without a mystery case.

But this week the Labor leader said it might not matter that NSW has ongoing community transmission of the virus and hasn't clocked up 28 days without a locally acquired case.

Asked if the two coronavirus cases diagnosed in the NSW community on Tuesday could torpedo the border reopening plans, Ms Palaszczuk said Dr Young would look at a range of factors, not just the 28-day border clock.
