A Geelong doctor has been charged with raping and indecently assaulting female patients, under the pretence of performing necessary medical procedures.

56-year-old general practitioner Shafiul Milky, who was previously employed at a Bellarine Peninsula medical practice, faced Geelong Magistrates' Court today charged with 15 offences.

The charges relate to allegations he touched female patients' breasts and thighs, and digitally penetrated their genitals.

The charges relate to alleged offences that occurred between September 2012 and February 2019.

Court documents reveal that in 2012, Dr Milky allegedly "placed his hand on [a patient's] breast and physically manipulated it, while being aware that [the patient] was not consenting or might not be consenting".

He also "pulled her underwear down exposing her vagina and touched her groin area".

In 2017, and again in March 2018, he is alleged to have raped a female patient, by "introducing his fingers in her vagina without her consent".

All of the alleged offending was said to have occurred "under the guise of performing a legitimate medical procedure".

Dr Milky was charged by the Geelong Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team (SOCIT) earlier this month.

The GP had his registration suspended by the Medical Board of Australia in 2019, but it was reinstated, with conditions, by the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal two months later.

He was restricted to practising at the Colac Medical Centre and Colac Central Medical Centre, in south-west Victoria, and the Mount Clear Medical Centre, near Ballarat.

He was also banned from having any contact with female patients.

Dr Milky is due to face court again in March next year.
