The Andrews Government has already brought forward the five-yearly review of Crown's license in Melbourne to 2021, but that will still be carried out by the Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation (VCGLR). While the Greens and others want Crown to lose its license immediately, the "What a judicial inquiry, I expect, might look at, is the gaps that exist with the Victorian regulator that has allowed that behaviour to occur under the nose of the Victorian regulator for years." The months-long inquiry heard evidence of money laundering and links to international criminal syndicates through

The report by independent Commissioner Patricia Bergin, published on Tuesday, found Crown facilitated money laundering through subsidiaries' bank accounts and failed to act when it was drawn to their attention.

It also put its staff in China in danger of being detained and dealt with junket operators it had been told were involved in organised crime, Ms Bergin found.

The .5 million Click for Vic campaign was launched today, but the State Opposition has said much more may need to be done to get businesses through the second wave. The Click for Vic campaign centres around a website which collates what Premier Daniel Andrews called "a quality offering" of Victoria 's best goods and produce. "Whilst many, many businesses are closed and Victorians are not in a position to be able to be out shopping other than for the absolute basics, there are so many outstanding products, so many outstanding small businesses for whom quality is the real key," Mr

Dan Andrews unveiled stimulus package aimed at getting visitors to the regions. million package will see residents given vouchers worth 0 each to spend. Holidaymakers must spend 0 on accommodation or attractions to qualify. 'Whether it's a day trip with the family or a tour along our stunning coast, we're helping more people get out and enjoy the best Victoria has to offer,' Mr Andrews said. 'This funding will help tourism businesses bounce back from the challenges of this year.' He expects the scheme will be operating in time for the Christmas holidays.

Premier Daniel Andrews said the report would be thoroughly examined, but it was too early to say whether Crown should keep its Victorian gaming licence.

"We do have to just take the time to read the thing and understand it," he said.

The premier suggested Melbourne's casino may need a separate authority to keep an eye on it.

"Casino regulation may need its own bespoke authority ... that may be something that we need to do," Mr Andrews said.

Opposition upper house leader David Davis said the state's gaming regulator is too soft.

"It's clearly untenable that an arrangement is in place where in one state such serious findings have been found by independent investigators ... and it appears the soft tame-cat regulator here in Victoria is not strong enough to get to the bottom of similar issues," he said.

I am once again masking for your support

Mr Andrews has cautioned against the danger of opening up too quickly, warning of having to "plough back into lockdown after lockdown" if a slow easing of restrictions isn't followed. He delivered the state's plan in a press conference running for almost 2 hours — if you missed it, here are the key points. The premier rejected suggestions the Victorian gaming regulator had failed to do its job.

But in December 2020, the government asked the regulator to bring forward its five-year review of Crown's licence, after admissions were made during the NSW inquiry.

An independent commissioner will be appointed to conduct the review, which is expected to be completed this year.

In the meantime, Victorian Greens want Crown's licence revoked.

"Victoria shouldn't need another review to tell us what we've known all along. Crown should be stripped of its Victorian licence immediately," party leader Samantha Ratnam said.

Independent federal MP Andrew Wilkie has called upon the Victorian and WA premiers to suspend Crown's casino licence and establish their own commissions of inquiry.
