The couples, aged between their 20s and 70s, got hitched at Taronga Zoo, which boasts stunning views of Sydney Harbour and an extremely colourful guest list.

The loved-up newlyweds, many of whom had to cancel their big day amid the pandemic last year, have travelled from as far as the South Coast to hold their "micro weddings" at the Zoo.

Tahi Cody and Matt Hayward were among the couples to walk down the aisle at the venue.

Restrictions that will stay in place for another WEEK in WA

Restrictions that will stay in place for another WEEK in WA WA has posted four consecutive days of no new community COVID-19 cases, paving the way for metropolitan Perth, the Peel region and South West to exit lockdown at 6pm on Friday. But Premier Mark McGowan has announced a range of restrictions will remain in place for Perth and Peel until 12:01am on Sunday February 14.All residents, including teachers and high school students, must wear masks while outside of their homes except for during vigorous outdoor exercise.

The location had an extra special meaning for the pair, with Tahi's grandfather being a former elephant keeper - and zoo celebrity.

NSW Births, Deaths and Marriages Registrar Amanda Ianna, who officiated at their wedding, said it was one of the most unique and beautiful ceremonies she has ever done.

"I've never done a wedding in the zoo before," she told AAP.

"For me to be able to marry them this morning was such a privilege."

All of the ceremonies conducted on Sunday morning turned out magnificently, she said.

"The views have been absolutely stunning, the weather's come out for us and it's been a spectacular day."

"Some couples even hired a buggy to go around the zoo to get photographed with the animals."

Up to 35 guests attended each of Sunday's ceremonies, which took about half an hour including photos.

NSW Births, Deaths and Marriages have only just started offering micro-weddings, but Ms Ianna expects they'll become more and more popular.

"It's about having all the pomp and ceremony of a wedding, but doing it on a smaller scale which is much more affordable for a couple."

"We've already got some thoughts about where we might do the next Valentine's Day," she said.

"We haven't locked them down yet but they'll be just as spectacular if not more."
